Case Study • CCTV Survey
When it comes to inspecting public highway structures, we know that getting the job done right is essential, especially when those structures are tucked away underneath the roads we drive on every day. Recently, we had the exciting opportunity to conduct a detailed CCTV survey of tunnels and culverts throughout the Redcar & Cleveland area. This was a fascinating project from beginning to end, and one of the many reasons why we love what we do!
What's the Buzz with CCTV Surveys?
In a nutshell, a CCTV survey uses high-tech cameras to inspect and assess the condition of structures without the need for invasive digging or dismantling. This innovative approach saves time, money, and a whole lot of hassle. Our mission was to capture video footage of the culverts and take a closer look at the internal condition of the pipes and surrounding areas.
The Tools of the Trade
We employed some impressive technology for this project:
Floating CCTV Unit – This clever gadget allowed us to glide through the culverts, capturing clear and crisp video footage as we went. It’s like having a little underwater drone that provides real-time insights into the condition of these hidden structures.
360-Degree Camera – With this must-have tool, we documented the internal conditions from every angle. It’s a great way to ensure nothing goes unnoticed, giving us a complete picture of what’s happening inside those pipes.
CCTV Crawler Unit: For those hard-to-reach tunnels, we deployed our CCTV crawler unit, the little machine that’s designed to navigate tight spaces and tricky corners, ensuring that we can inspect every nook and cranny with peace and ease.
Why Go Non-Invasive?
One of the biggest advantages of CCTV surveys is their non-invasive nature. Traditional inspection methods often involve digging up roads or dismantling structures, which can be disruptive and costly. With our CCTV approach, we can pinpoint issues without unnecessary work or headaches. This means we can focus resources where they’re truly needed, making the entire process smoother and more efficient.
Once our survey was complete, we compiled all the recorded footage and images into comprehensive inspection reports for our client. These reports are essential for understanding the condition of each surveyed structure and for planning any necessary maintenance or repairs.
A Job Well Done!
Our CCTV survey of the tunnels and culverts in the Redcar & Cleveland area was not only a successful project but also an exciting opportunity to showcase the benefits of modern surveying techniques. By using innovative technology, we were able to provide valuable insights while minimising disruption.
