Our team has been on site at Stockton Waterfront completing a detailed as-built laser scan of the newly constructed concrete elements along the riverside.
With control already established on site, we quickly set up and marked targets:
🔹 Four targets at the wall ends
🔹 Two placed ...directly on the walls
🔹 Additional targets positioned mid-wall
We also scanned the end of the old footbridge, ensuring a full picture of the surrounding structures.
To meet our client’s request for high-density data, we deployed extended tripod legs, enabling elevated and detailed scans that captured every angle with precision.

Last Friday we were proud to exhibit at the Constructing Links expo hosted by Lynas Engineers at the Riverside Stadium, home of Middlesbrough FC.

The morning session we welcomed local school children for some inspiring exploration into careers in the construction industry. We took along ...one of our @trimblegeospatial total stations to give them some hands on experience with the technology we use everyday.
Challenging them to guess the length of the football pitch, they all had some great fun. 😊

The afternoon we were joined by professionals from a mix of companies for a panel discussion and some networking.

This was a great opportunity and hopefully we have inspired some future surveyors.

A HUGE thanks to @justwilliamsoffice , @mfc.foundation and Lynas Engineers for hosting us.

We recently had the opportunity to support the production of @28yearslatermovie, the upcoming zombie epic from Danny Boyle.

We were commissioned to carry out LiDAR and photogrammetry surveys at Redmire, North Yorkshire, to help the pre-production team create a scale model of the landscape... - used to bring to life an incredible set piece known as the 'Bone Temple'.

This project was a thrilling reminder of just how powerful and versatile aerial and drone LiDAR technology can be.

We recently welcomed Katie to join us for a few weeks as part of her work experience and it's been a pleasure having her on board!

Katie has been getting a real feel for what life is like as a land surveyor. From shadowing our surveyors on-site... to getting hands-on with industry-leading equipment, she’s been gaining practical skills and valuable insights into the geospatial world.

One highlight this week was a visit to a Premier League football club’s training ground, where the team was carrying out a detailed topographical survey of the sports pitches.

We make it our duty to support the next generation of professionals and we hope Katie's time with us inspires her to pursue a future in the geospatial industry!

A hot day, a beautiful setting… and a leaky pair of waders!

Our team recently completed a Topographical Survey in Ripon on the banks (and in the depths) of the River Ure, supporting a structural assessment of a bridge for our client.

This was no ordinary survey — it involved ...capturing detailed data in and around the river, including:
📍 Arch profiles
📍 Riverbed levels
📍 Piers and abutments
📍 Parapet heights
📍 Carriageway and footway widths
📍 Spot levels
We used a combination of Trimble Total Station, GPS, traverse kits, RS10, and of course, the all-important harnesses for safe working in and around deep water.

Huge credit to the team for maintaining high safety standards throughout — and for staying professional despite a minor wardrobe malfunction in the form of a leaky pair of waders
Every site has its challenges, but days like these remind us why we love what we do!

We recently completed a Topographical Survey for a development site in the city of York. On this project, we were able to provide a valuable on-site learning opportunity for one of our trainees, Bailey, who gained hands-on experience with survey procedures under real-life conditions.

The ...survey consisted of establishing two GPS Stations along the main road to create a solid long baseline for control. Standard topographical features were captured, including a 10m grid, ridge and eaves height of adjacent properties, boundary levels, and tree heights within a wooded garden area.

Upon completion, Bailey thoroughly reviewed the logger data to ensure full coverage of all key features. This project reinforced our approach that “every day is a school day”—providing structured, practical experience to help our trainees grow confidently into geospatial professionals.
