Surveying Services in Lancaster
St Mary’s Gate
At the request of this new client, we conducted an extensive Topographical and Measured Building Survey at the purportedly haunted St Mary’s Gate in Lancaster. Given the historical significance and Grade II listed status of the building, our team meticulously performed detailed surveys to capture its intricate architectural elements. The project included comprehensive floor plans and elevations to document every aspect of the structure.
To achieve the high level of accuracy required for such a heritage site, we utilised state-of-the-art technology. The terrestrial scanner Leica RTC 360 was employed to capture precise measurements and create detailed 3D models of the building’s interior and exterior. This advanced scanner enabled us to document the fine details and complex geometries typical of historic buildings, ensuring that nothing was overlooked.
Additionally, we deployed the Phantom 4TK Drone to conduct aerial surveys, which provided highly accurate roof plans. The drone’s capability to capture high-resolution images and data from various angles was crucial in identifying and documenting any hidden details or hard-to-reach areas of the building’s roof and upper structures. This combination of terrestrial and aerial surveying technologies ensured a comprehensive and precise representation of St Mary’s Gate.
The resulting detailed surveys were indispensable for the preservation and future planning of the site, ensuring that any renovations or restorations would be faithful to the building’s original design while maintaining its historical integrity. Our thorough approach and use of innovative technology underscored our commitment to delivering high-quality surveying services tailored to the unique requirements of heritage buildings.
