Surveying Across The North
Hull, officially known as Kingston upon Hull, is a port city in East Yorkshire, England. Founded in the late 12th century, the port of Hull was created by monks in order to transport their wool. Now the port of Hull is an important factor in international trade with Europe and a large contributor to North Yorkshire’s economy.
The development plan for Hull, known as the “Hull Local Plan 2016 to 2032,” outlines the city’s strategic vision for growth and development. This comprehensive plan aims to guide sustainable development, improve the quality of life for residents, and ensure the city’s long-term economic viability.
Key aspects of Hull’s Local Plan include housing, economy and employment, infrastructure, environment and sustainability, education and skills, healthcare and well being, culture and heritage and community and social services.
One of the most important focuses of the Hull Local Plan is the housing supply. The plan aims to deliver 9,920 new homes by 2032 to meet the growing population and housing demand, while ensuring a proportion of new housing developments are affordable, as well as promoting mixed use development to create sustainable communities.
The Local Plan also focuses on city centre development, revitalizing the city centre to enhance its appeal as. acommercial, cultural and residential hub, as well as expanding Hull’s port facilities to support the maritime industry and boost international trade.
Another key element involves improving the infrastructure of Hull, including improvements to road, rail and public transport networks to enhance connectivity between Hull and other regions. Investments in high-speed broadband and digital technologies to support business growth and innovation is also a major factor in the improvement of Hull’s infrastructure.
