That’s why every member of our UAV team is fully trained and certified by the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), ensuring we deliver aerial surveys with the highest level of professionalism, compliance and technical skill.

The Path to Pilot

To operate legally and safely in UK airspace, expert training, legal compliance and a strong grasp of aviation safety is required. Our drone pilots complete an intensive training programme that includes:

PDRA01 Operational Authorisation: Through an intensive online course, our team gains essential knowledge in air law, risk assessments and operating procedures. This prepares them to carry our drone flights in line with the ~UK’s Specific Category regulations.

GVC (General Visual Line of Sight Certificate): The GVC is a hands-on practical assessment, where surveyors must demonstrate their ability to safely and effectively control and manoeuvre a UAV in realistic field conditions.

The full qualification process can be completed intensively within a week, or on a part-time basis, ensuring our team remains agile, compliant and always at the forefront of surveying technology.

Many drone companies rely on external pilots or hire operators with limited surveying knowledge – we do the opposite.
