Tri-Tech Surveys were recently requested by Fairhurst Stone to survey materials at Whitworth Quarry in Lancashire.
Whitworth Quarry is renowned for producing the raw material for one of the country’s strongest and hardest Yorkstone Paving and the manufacture of high quality aggregates and sands.
On this occasion they required Tri-Tech to survey the hard bed levels under the lagoons at the quarry. By utilising the radio controlled Seafloor HyDrone, combined with the Trimble GNSS receiver, we surveyed each lagoon quickly and safely.
A Matrice 300 drone was launched to capture the data above the water-level. We merged the results from the UAV and Hydrographic survey to accurately calculate the volumes and create a 3D model of the entire quarry.
This is an excellent example of how Tri-Tech are continually using the latest technology to reduce the risks of working in potentially dangerous environments.
This was a really interesting survey, using the drone and the hydrone together to get some great results.
